I don't know how to explain
these wild eyes or
the frog in my throat
the morning comes
to remove illusions from
my eyes, but I find that
getting out of bed is hard --
and my body feels like
a heavy weight; stuck.
synapses firing,
a hyped up aurora borealis
//adjusting//
//readjusting//
//fixing and reforming//
the urge to sink
comes in hot waves,
and she welcomed it
like it had always lived
under her skin.
"insecurities are born hungry"
(I know).

NaPoWriMo 2019 #14 Magical Magnets
A mini-magnetic revolution:
Fighting writer's block
one
magnet
at
a
time.
Words of
love, hope
and encouragement -
sprinkled with
colors and
a sense of wonder.
Her gifts to us:
A smile,
a laugh
or tears of joy,
which she would bestow
upon us every day.
Silence
could not
take away the love,
and death will never
take away
the light
she has given us.
An inspiration in human form
she breathed in darkness
and breathed out light:
She was a dream by day
and is now a star by night.
she dances, gravity-defying,
dust falling and flying,
and clinging to her skirts;
she twirls and she brushes
hands and dusters
through her home;
she scrubs and she huffs
for the dirt has to go; all the cobwebs
the mud and the slime
everything that's been trudged
and carried and trampled
inside during the year;
it's a new coming alive once more
with Spring knocking at the door,
so make yourself new!
after a long bout of twirling
suddenly a halt; heavy breathing -
she stopped in front of the altar
a heavy, wooden thing,
that's been quietly sitting
in the corner of her home
untouched by the dusting,
untouched
by anything much,
indeed -
She did not know
how long it had been ten o'clock -
ever since last week
when the neighbors
refused to stand
on the porch
knocking on the door any longer.
They just want to come in
and look at things
her brother said
and to maybe steal
gram's silver locket
or those maps
dad kept at the bottom
of his dresser.
They want to stare
at gram in her coffin
and guess how much it cost
and who picked out her dress.
And then they will see
there is nothing in the kitchen
but canned beans and radishes.
So they will go home
and cook lamb stew
and soup with spelt and marrow.
They will notice
you have not washed your hair,
that the pits of your shirt
are st
